First Responder Resources

988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline: 988

A 24/7 hotline. The national (USA) suicide hotline. Not first responder specific, but they can and will talk to anyone who needs help. We’ve been told by one of their founders they have a large number of first responders and veterans who volunteer. https://988lifeline.org/

A 24/7 help line staffed by first responders for first responders and their family  members. They can assist with treatment options for responders who are suffering from mental health, substance abuse and other personal issues.  https://www.safecallnowusa.org/ 

Copline (Law Enforcement Only): 1-800-267-5463

 A confidential helpline for members of US law enforcement. Their website also has additional information on help and resources.  https://www.copline.org/

24/7 firefighter and family crisis and support line. https://www.firestrong.org/ 

Frontline Helpline: 1-866-676-7500

Run by Frontline Responder Services, a staff of former first responders who offer support for first responders and their family members. https://frontlinerehab.com/helpline/ 

First Responder Helpline: 1-833-367-4689

The Heroes Helpline is a free, confidential service implemented to help first responders across Texas who may be experiencing symptoms of mental health or substance use disorders. We provide a brief telephone-based screening and referral intervention to assist individuals overcome barriers to substance use disorders or mental health disorders by navigating them to treatment and recovery. https://sbmi.uth.edu/ace/helpline.htm

Crisis Text Line

A service that allows people in crisis to speak with a trained crisis counselor by texting ” “Home” or “Badge” to 741-741. https://www.crisistextline.org/ 

Share the Load Program

A program run by the National Volunteer Fire Council. They have collected a list of many good resources for people looking for help and support. Members ($21) also have access to a helpline to provide assistance to members and their families for a variety of behavior health issues and work-life stresses. https://www.nvfc.org/programs/share-the-load-program/ 

SAMHSA National Helpline: 1-800-662-HELP (4357)

SAMHSA’s National Helpline is a free, confidential, 24/7, 365-day-a-year treatment referral and information service (in English and Spanish) for individuals and families facing mental and/or substance use disorders. https://www.samhsa.gov/find-help/national-helpline
